Baby's First Blog Post

First off, anyone reading this has Rise Up Comus to thank for encouraging me to start this blog. Complaints may be directed in the same general direction.

A Little About Me

I am VPofTucson on the OSR Discord channel. Surprise, surprise.

My first real, in-the-flesh exposure to tabletop RPGs was playing in a buddy's Only War campaign back in 2013. It lasted one whole session. The first hit is free, as they say, and after that I was hooked. I started up my own Only War campaign with half my high school's varsity football team and have been playing with the same group, more or less, since then.

We tried the other WH40k games, didn't really like them, and then branched out into Dungeon World. It was that point, circa 2016, where I ran headfirst into the OSR. I've stayed ever since.

So why get into screaming into the void now, after all this time? Mostly the reasons many others do:

  • staying active in the hobby
  • organizing my incoherent RPG thoughts
  • hot takes
  • following and discussing other hobbyists' work
  • stroking my creative ego
  • workshopping game design elements

What You Can Expect

Beyond whatever dumbass things pops into my head, I'm hoping to use this space to post updates on the creatively-bankrupt Lord of the Rings Knave hack I am working on. It will (eventually) be posted here. I would one day like to return to some of my half-baked and half-finished projects -- namely, a cut-down Star Wars d6, WH40k Dark Heresy noir sandbox, cyberpunk Tucson, and my dream game: a Pendragon-style game set in a mythic Pre-Columbian Arizona.

What You Cannot Expect

Consistency. More than one draft of anything I write or post. Coherent thoughts.
